After a wet Spring we have enjoyed a warm sunny start to Summer. The good news is that Melbourne's water storage is up to 66% and we are now at level one water restrictions
Maintaining your garden to a high standard is going to be easier than it has been recently. Now is a good time to fertilize your lawn as we are able to water the fertilizer in. Many properties have irrigation systems that were installed before water restrictions came in and therefore haven't been used in years. Your system will no doubt need servicing before it is able to be used again.
Phil participated in Movember this year growing a moustache to help raise funds to promote men's health. http://au.movember.com/mospace/2406266/
Thankfully November is over and he is clean shaven now.
Recently we have recently purchased a new mower deck for our Walker ride on mower. We now are able to offer a ride on with grass catcher to our list of services.

We will not be closing completely down over the Christmas break this year. We will only be closed for the public holidays.
Glen and Phil along with the staff at AC Maintenance, Avril, Steve, Ian and Aurelio would like to thank and wish all our valued customers a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year
September & October 2011 Newsletter
Winter is well behind us as we look forward to the warmer months. Good Winter rains see Melbourne's water storage up to 62% at the start of Spring. Water restrictions could be lifted up to stage one restrictions in November. So now is a great time to think about rejuvenating your lawn or garden. For the first time in years we will be able to water lawns. We can help with a range of services to ensure that you have the best lawn in the street. Services include fertilizing, weed control, aerating, oversowing and installing instant turf.
Due to demand we are now able to accept payment by credit card through PayPal. If you wish to use this service please let us know and we will invoice you via email. There is a 3% service fee to cover the cost of our transaction fee.
May & June 2011 Newsletter
Winter is almost upon us and we can look back at one of the busiest seasons that we have ever witnessed. Due to the rain and humidity over Summer the lawns and gardens continued to grow as if it was still Spring. We would like to thank all of our staff for a great effort enabling us to service our valued clients during this unusually busy season.
This year we started a footy tipping competition for employees, family and friends. You can follow the results on our Facebook page, just click on the Facebook icon on the front page. Next year we would like to extend the invitation to customers to join in the fun and test your footy tipping skills.
Until the Skye tip reopens, hopefully in July, we are unable to do hard rubbish removals as the Cranbourne Recycling Centre no longer accepts rubbish. They only accept recyclable materials including green waste.
Now is a great time to think about rejuvenating your garden. Mulching garden beds is a great water saving idea and also helps reduce the weeds that invade gardens over Winter.
Jan & Feb 2011 Newsletter
Glen, Phil and all the staff at AC Maintenance would like to wish all our valued customers a safe and prosperous year ahead.
As we were so busy up to Christmas we were unable to take a break as planned so Phil we be taking a weeks annual leave in February and Glen will be taking a break in early March. If your property is due for a maintenance visit during this time rest assured you will still be serviced by one of the other crews.
One of the reasons we didn't take a break is we were contracting for the City of Monash helping them catch up on their backlog. We were mowing parks, reserves and playgrounds.
Just before Christmas we purchased another ute. We now have another crew on the road mainly servicing our domestic clients. Andrew has gone from casual to permanent employment. So if you see a new face in your garden it will probably be Andrew.

Garden tips for December For white fly and other bugs, use Pyrethrum in the garden - it's one of the safer sprays available, but always follow directions and read the warnings before use. As it heats up, the best time to water your plants is the morning. This reduces the chance of fungal diseases, and lowers the risk of water evaporation Vegetable gardens will require constant attention this month. Keep up the deep watering & weekly doses of liquid fertiliser (such as liquid blood & bone). Mulch between plants & keep weeds under control. Pots need regular watering during the hot summer months. The potting mix can get difficult to 'wet', the mix seems to shrink & the water runs down the outside of the root ball, without wetting the mix or watering the plant. Use a wetting agent such as Saturaid to fix this problem. Tip-prune lanky shoots on sasanqua camellias and prune back wildly growing climbers such as wisteria. Also prune shrubs that have finished flowering such as bottlebrush, emu bush (Eremophila) and butterfly bush (Buddleja). Feed them to encourage new growth.
